The Wilderness Society is to an independent, self-funded, non-profit organisation which relies for its success in ensuring a healthy environment entirely on the ongoing support and commitment of people like you.

Using every peaceful means possible, The Wilderness Society works across Australia to secure a safe environment for future generations - by mobilising the community, driving world-class science and exploring sustainable economic solutions.

Over 30 years, The Wilderness Society and its supporters have been instrumental in the protection of millions of hectares of magnificent wilderness, including icons such as the Franklin, the Daintree, Kakadu, Macquarie Island, Ningaloo Reef, Fraser Island and Tasmania's Southwest.

Thanks to the support of people like you, The Wilderness Society helped to end broadscale land clearing in Queensland, which was Australia's biggest ever 'win' both for wildlife protection and reduction in carbon pollution.

This year your fund raising will assist our campaigns to ensure:

• Cape York Peninsula, one of the last wild places on earth, is protected forever through nomination for World Heritage listing.
• The protection of the world's greatest River Red Gums forests along the Murray River through the establishment of new National Parks
• Forests and woodlands are properly recognized for their essential role in reducing climate change. This is particularly important as Australia now grapples with the complex issue of setting up a carbon economy.
