Rules

  1. And the views! All team members must be aged 18 or above on the day of the event.
  2. At the start of the event, each team must have four to six members (six members are compulsory if you are doing the relay option).
  3. Teams must check in on the Friday before the event between 10am-8pm.
  4. All team members must stay together between checkpoints and must check-in and check-out together at each checkpoint. Marshals at the checkpoints will not check-in or check-out teams with members unaccounted for.
  5. Any member who is injured or exhausted must be brought to the nearest checkpoint by team mates for assistance. If the injury is serious, call the event safety officer via the emergency phone number printed on every participant's race bib.
  6. Under no circumstances are individuals to be left unaccompanied. If a team member becomes seriously injured and cannot be moved, one person must stay with him or her while the others seek help.
  7. If you want to withdraw during the event, you must first report to the nearest checkpoint. Remaining team members cannot continue until the withdrawal of the team member has been reported. If for any reason you have to leave the event urgently, you must call the event safety officer via the emergency number printed on the race bib as soon as possible.
  8. In order to withdraw, the participant must complete a withdrawal certificate at one of the checkpoints. A team with less members than at the start of the event cannot continue without a copy of the withdrawal certificate. This must be presented at each remaining checkpoint.
  9. If the number of withdrawals reduces the team size to only two, those two members must accompany another team between checkpoints. This is to ensure that all event participants travel in groups of at least three people for safety. This does not mean that team members join the other team - each team will retain their identity, team number and bib colour throughout the event.
  10. Teams participating in the relay option must run as two sets of three, sticking together as per the above rules. The first trio completes the first half, with changeover at Golden Staircase carpark checkpoint, then the second trio completes the second half of the course
  11. If teams decide to leave the trail or checkpoints to sleep, or for any other reason, they must do so from a designated checkpoint. The entire team must contact the event safety officer via the emergency number printed on participants' race bib to notify their intention and an estimated return time. Failure to do so will result in the team being reported missing and a search and rescue will be initiated. The team must restart at the same checkpoint to resume the event.
  12. If for any reason team members decide to stay between two checkpoints for more than 10 hours, they must call the emergency phone number to inform the organiser. Otherwise, they will be considered missing and a search will be initiated.
  13. If your team has not departed a checkpoint by the nominated closing time, the team will be withdrawn from the event and will be advised not to proceed. If you choose to do so, it will be at your own risk. The closing times are calculated on the basis that there would be insufficient time remaining to complete the event in the specified 48 hours.
  14. A teams' finishing time will be recorded as the last member of the team reports to officials at the Finish. WildEndurance is a team event. No individual time will be recorded.
  15. The provided identification race bibs must be worn at all times during the event. Each team member must have an approved reflective top to be worn on any road sections.
  16. Every team must have a support crew and must be self-sufficient. The support crew is responsible for providing teams with the majority of their food, water and changes of clothes etc. during the event. Please ensure your support crew is suitably briefed.
  17. Do not drop litter. Participants and Support Crews must respect the environment and local neighbourhood by using the litter and recycling bins at the checkpoints.
  18. Teams are asked to respect residential and local parking regulations.
  19. Dogs are not permitted on the trail or at checkpoints. Neither is smoking.
  20. Teams must carry a minimum of two mobile phones, preferably on two different networks.
  21. Each team must carry a compulsory set of gear. Click here for the list.
  22. Teams must raise a minimum sponsorship fee (as determined in the entry form) to participate in WildEndurance. This amount is in addition to the registration fee. Failure to do so will prevent involvement in future events.
